About My Visit

For our saltbox guests we recommend at least 30 minutes. For our “cave dwellers” sessions run 45 minutes. For those who prefer the privacy of our salt bed the general recommendation is 20 minutes.
We will happily rebook your session. For a no-show, the session will be charged in full. Please note it is important to show up on time. We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment. Unless you request a private session, there may be others that will have booked the same time and SOTES will not hold up a session if you are late.
Comfortable clothing. Shoes are not allowed in either of our salt rooms and we ask that you wear white socks. Or for a small fee we can provide booties that you can bring with you each time you visit. Due to the allergy sensitivities of others, we ask that you refrain from wearing any perfumes or colognes.
Yes! Deeply relaxed and invigorated! Benefits come from sitting back and breathing in one of Nature’s best healing crystals. Rooms infused with fine salt aerosol of a specific concentration provides the main therapeutic effect. Fine micro particles are misted gently into your lungs working to clear the mucus and congestion in your breathing passage areas. Your body welcomes the opportunity to rid itself of certain bacteria and blockages. When heated, the Himalayan Salt on the walls and floors emit negative ions which adds another benefit to the healing process. Himalayan Salt is naturally anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine, and anti-fungal. Our salt rooms provide an environment free from microorganisms and allergens, compliments, of one of Earth’s oldest elements. One salt session can provide the same therapeutic effects as spending a day at the seashore.
No different than everyday spaces. We ask our guests who are diagnosed with a severely contagious condition to wait until their condition improves before doing a session in one of our rooms. Our salt rooms are most effective in supporting the immune system prior to allergy/cold season(s). The natural antibacterial and antiviral properties of Himalayan salt may help minimize the everyday risk of catching a cold.
 Yes for private sessions only. Please note this is a courtesy to non-smokers and for those who are looking to relax as the salt may cause excessive coughing from smoking. If you book a private appointment, please refrain from smoking at least two hours prior to your arrival.

About The Rooms

The salt bed provides a private, personalized therapy for skin and lungs. Various levels and concentration of salt particles offer a more targeted specific salt therapy session for a shorter duration. If you have a skin condition and would like more exposure to those areas, you may wear a bathing suit in the salt bed. The granules in the salt bed are heated to provide optimum ionization.

The salt cave may have up to 8 guests at any given time (per session) and the saltbox 4 to 6 guests per session.

Temperatures range from 68 to 72 degrees. For those guests in the salt cave, blankets are provided for your comfort.
A dimly lit room is maintained in the cave, the saltbox will have more light for our younger guests.
Quiet meditation music with soothing sounds will be played throughout most sessions.
We ask that you leave your cell phones or any electronic device in your car or at home as they are not allowed in the spa. Lockers and baskets are provided for your personal items but we cannot be liable for any valuables.

About Himalayan Salt

 You may gently touch the walls and floor in the cave or saltbox but we ask as a general rule that you refrain from handling the salt surfaces on the walls. SOTES has taken extra care to create the best possible environment for everyone to enjoy and benefit from. In our saltbox we provide “sandbox toys” for children to play with. We also encourage children to read and enjoy quiet time/activities to maintain a relaxing and stress free experience.

About Reiki & Healing Touch

During a Healing Touch or Reiki session, the individual remains fully clothed while relaxing comfortably on a massage table or sitting in a chair. The practitioner gently places his or her hands in different positions on or above the body. Most report feeling deeply relaxed and peaceful during and after a session. Others may experience warmth, coolness, or tingling sensations during the session. You may even fall asleep. The experience is different for each person.

Reiki and Healing Touch ‘meet you’ where you are. Many energy-based therapies, such as massage, acupuncture, reiki and healing touch, can affect you for 2 or 3 days following your session. Your system is adjusting and this is part of your body’s natural healing process.

About Bio Mats

Yes, the Bio Mat is safe and effective for people of all ages, including children, the elderly and even your pets. The only precautions involve excess heat. For example, while pregnant, treat the mat as you would a warm bath with shorter sessions at lower temperatures. The same applies to anyone who is sensitive to heat. Please consult your physician before using the mat on infants, if you are pregnant, or if you have heat sensitivity.
Yes, the mat is safe to sleep on. It is recommended to sleep on the lower settings. Sleeping on the mat can help improve sleep problems and insomnia, especially when related to stress, tension or pain.
You can use the Bio Mat as often and as long as you like. It is recommended that you use the Bio Mat for a minimum of 20 minutes at each session, but you have the option to use it for longer if you wish. Most people use the Bio Mat daily or for multiple sessions each day and see great benefits, however intermittent use for a specific reason, such as relieving back pain, can also be sufficient.
Results should be seen very quickly for those using the mat for pain relief, stress level, and mood improvement. However results may vary depending on frequency of use and the nature of the problem that you are treating. Although many people see results in as little as a day, for others it may take several weeks to notice improvement.
For the first day or two, if there is swelling, it is better to use cold to reduce the swelling and prevent further injury. But once the swelling has gone down, heat will speed up the rate of tissue repair and FIR light is the best way to deliver heat straight to the injury site. For this purpose, it is best to use the mat for 20-30 minutes, multiple times a day.
Although all effects on the body are positive, some people experience slight fevers, headaches, and nausea when beginning to use the Bio Mat. This is not a direct reaction to the infrared rays or negative ions, rather it is the effects of detoxification as built up waste and toxins are being removed from your system. These effects are temporary and will vary depending on the level of toxins in the body.
Whenever electricity moves through a wire, an electromagnetic field (EMF) is produced. There is some concern that our frequent exposure to these EMFs may have health effects. In particular, there is concern about alternating current, since it creates a rapidly alternating EMF. The Bio Mat is designed with these concerns in mind. It converts AC electricity to DC at the control box, and then incorporates further measures to lessen the strength of the EMF around the mat itself. It is possible to test your Bio Mat with a Tri-Meter, or other EMF measuring device. The fields should be nearly undetectable.
